Valuing intellectual property rights is an integral aspect of effective IP management within an organisation. Understanding the economic value and significance of the intellectual property rights a company creates and develops is crucial for making strategic decisions about these assets. Additionally, it facilitates transactions and the commercialisation of intellectual property rights.
European IP Helpdesk team just published an IP Special highlighting the core aspects of IP valuation. Covering a fact sheet, an infographic and an event recording organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) “IP Finance Dialogue - Expanding Horizons on IP Finance and Valuation”, this Special explains several methodologies that are commonly used on the market to value the intellectual assets. It also provides examples of possible use scenarios of these methodologies are given.
