New Case Study: RobCo - How a Self-aware Robot Revolutionises Industrial Automation

The European IP Helpdesk team has recently published a case study about RobCo, a young start-up from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), that delves into the transformation of industrial automation through the introduction of self-aware robots. In contrast to traditional industrial robots, which are often highly specialized and trained for repetitive tasks, self-aware robots represent a revolutionary shift in the landscape of industrial automation. The case study explores the impact and innovations associated with these self-aware robots, providing insights into their potential implications for the industry. It also highlights the importance of early intellectual property (IP) protection (especially before publishing) as well as dedicated decision whether to patent an invention.

RobCo has rapidly grown and currently encompasses over 30 employees. The company is dedicated to the development of modular robots coupled with cloud-based software. This innovative approach simplifies the integration of automated robots for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), eliminating the complexities and high costs associated with traditional setups.

The full case study is available here.
