Dr. Xiaopeng Zhao is the founder and owner of the law firm, Kanzlei Dr. Zhao, based in Hamburg, Germany. Licensed as a Chinese lawyer and a member of the Hanseatic Bar Association of Hamburg, he provides legal counsel on Chinese law from Germany.
Since 2015, Dr. Zhao has specialized in intellectual property law. He served as a senior manager at an IP consulting firm in Munich and subsequently led the Hamburg office of an internationally renowned IP law firm.
Dr. Zhao’s expertise covers IP prosecution and enforcement, as well as the development of comprehensive IP strategies for entering the Chinese market. He has primarily supported German and German-speaking companies in combating counterfeiting and in building strong IP portfolios in China.
A native of Shandong, China, Dr. Zhao completed his legal studies at the University of Nanjing in China and at the University of Göttingen in Germany. He earned his doctoral degree in law with "magna cum laude" from the University of Göttingen for his dissertation entitled "The Legal Regulation of Online Human Flesh Search (Internet Mobbing)."
His second monograph, "Commentary on the Classic Judgements of the German Federal Court Regarding Patent Law," has been published by a leading legal publishing house in China.
Additionally, Dr. Zhao is certified as a data protection officer, a data protection auditor, and an IT security officer (TÜV-certified). He is also a certified translator for the Chinese and German languages, accredited by the City of Hamburg.
