After qualifying as an attorney in 1993, Fabrice trained in the IP department of the international law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel in Paris. He then joined the litigation department of one of the most renowned maritime law firms Middleton Potts in London. In 1997 he arrived in Thailand to join a well established Thai litigation law firm, Mongkolnavin.
In 2000, Fabrice opened Rouse's office in Bangkok. His practice dominantly covers patent prosecution and litigation, bio-prospecting and bio-piracy, genetic resources and geographical indication in Thailand but also the rest of Asia. He is heavily involved in Myanmar having, for instance, assisted the Ministry of Science and Technology of Myanmar in drafting their first comprehensive trade mark legislation.
Fabrice is a consultant to WIPO on geographical indication and community rights and has been advising governmental agencies such as the European Patent Office and private association such as Japanese Automotive Manufacturers Association (“JAMA”). He is the co-founder of the BioEconomy Academy which is a partnership between the Biodiversity Economy Development Organization of Thailand (Ministry of Natural Resources of Thailand) and Rouse Thailand. He is the co-president of the sustainable development commission of the European Association of European Patent Practitioners (www.apeb.eu).
He lectures at universities in Japan, China and Thailand and regularly speaks at events organized by WIPO, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and USPTO.
