GIRARD-FOLEY & ASSOCIATES (“GFA”) is a boutique practice dedicated to resolving IP and commercial/investment disputes for European companies especially SME's in Asia using ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) techniques.
What sets us apart from similar firms is that we focus exclusively on being counsel or advocate for a party, whether a claimant or a defendant in arbitration or mediation. Siding with and fighting for a client is at the core of our practice, we don't accept any mandate to act as “neutral” arbitrator or mediator.
GFA relies on the skills and experience of Philippe Girard-Foley, who has lived and worked in Asia for over twenty years.
Philippe is an “Avocat” Member of the Paris Bar, a Qualified Mediator with the International Mediation Institute (IMI) in the Hague, the highest qualifying institution for mediators worldwide and with the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AIADR) as well as a panelist in arbitration and mediation with the Asian International Arbitration Centre, a global hub for dispute resolution based in Kuala Lumpur.
He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in London and a Registered Foreign Lawyer with the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC), a division of the Singapore High Court and part of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Philippe's formal legal training is from France (Sorbonne and « Sciences Po » Paris), the USA (Penn Carey Law School) and Australia, and he has practiced law in Paris, London, Brussels and Hong Kong before settling in Malaysia in 1997.
