Description
An EU footwear and sportswear company with strong international presence sought to extend their business and enter the Indian market. They decided to register their trade mark and the designs of their products in India to safeguard their interests, as they were aware of the risks of IP rights violations. As the EU company expanded into the Indian market, they discovered that nearly identical products using their trade mark were being marketed and sold in the local marketplaces. The EU firm engaged a local investigator, who discovered that the products in question were counterfeits imported from other countries to India.
