IP and the pharma & healthcare sectors in India

India has gained a reputation as the world’s biggest pharmacy, being a centre of manufacturing to a large part of the world’s drugs and medical equipment. Indeed, the Indian healthcare sector, and more specifically the Indian pharma sector alone, provides for 50% of global demand for various vaccines, 40% of the generic demand in the US and 25% of all medicines sold in the UK to name just a few examples.
