Description
Intellectual property enforcement relates to the act or process of compelling third parties to comply with the exclusive rights which IP owners benefit over their inventions, creations or brands. Having a recognised intellectual property right (by law or registration) on its own is not enough: owners of any intellectual property right must be ready to take the necessary steps to enforce it. If they are to let competitors infringe on their IP rights repeatedly without taking any action, the benefits from having these IP rights are greatly diminished, if not outright cancelled. This is the reason why specific attention should be given to the matter of enforcement at the time of setting up an IP strategy for a company in the context of its internationalisation.
