Design registration in Chile

Flancox, a Bulgarian company focused on food packaging products, developed a new, unique packaging with different fruit shapes. The production costs were higher than expected. Hence, the SME’s CEOs had to reduce costs in other areas, particularly in intellectual property (IP) protection. For this reason, considering that the appearance of the product was the most distinguishable element, they opted to apply for design registration (as “modelo industrial”) in Chile and left trade mark registration for later.
