Created in 1998 with the mission of bringing Portugal in Latin America by encouraging knowledge and cooperation with Latin American countries, the House of Latin America is a non-profit and private law, established by the municipality of Lisbon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, the embassies of Latin American countries and a number of companies.

Its action is developed in four areas that are linked to two main arguments: Culture and Knowledge, with activities in various cultural and artistic fields and in the field of ideas and knowledge, economics and politics, with activities in the business field of promotion and development of economic and trade relations between Portugal and Latin American countries as well as in the political and diplomatic field, as an entity dedicated to institutional cooperation.
