Overview

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)established in 1895 is the leading employers’ organization in Bulgaria with more than 50 000 members. The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the 28 Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry are united in the Unified System of Bulgarian Chambers of Commerce and Industry which has members – traders, corporations, associations, etc. It is an independent, not-for-profit NGO whose mission is to support and protect the business interests of its members as well as to encourage the development of international economic cooperation.

BCCI is an autonomous and self-financing organization with voluntary membership striving to establish a more favourable business environment by promotion and support of entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives. The Chamber is also a member of the worldwide network of chambers of commerce along with various international organizations: World Trade Centers Association, International Chamber of Commerce, Eurochambres, Association of the Balkan Chambers, Business Council to the BSEC, International Employers’ organization, Regional Cooperation Council; SouthEast European Cooperative Initiative; Central European Initiative; Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce.

Within the framework of the BCCI operate the Council of Sectorial organizations and the Club of Joint Chambers. The main objectives of the Council of Sectorial organizations are to facilitate the dialogue between public institutions and businesses, and to balance the interests of sectorial organisations in connection with the main issues related to creating a favourable environment for the development of Bulgarian business. 84 sectorial organizations are members of the Council. The Club of joint chambers gives the opportunity of more than 60 joint chambers to meet each other, share experience and discuss the problems of foreign investor in Bulgaria.

BCCI implements its main tasks through the following directorates: Trade register and membership, International cooperation and International organizations, Economic Analysis and Researches, European Integration and Projects, Fairs and Exhibitions; Arbitration court at BCCI.

The main services which BCCI provides to its members include consultations on economic activity, provision with detailed business information about companies operating in Bulgaria, financial data about leading companies, consultations on marketing research, organization of business delegations in the country and abroad, workshops and seminars for entrepreneurs; consultations on legal and tax issues, on projects for financing. BCCI take part in different projects funded by the European Union. Till now BCCI has more than 60 implemented projects.
