Understanding Data and IP Regulations in China and South-East Asia: A Brief Overview

In occasion of the International SME Day, JOIST Innovation Park hosted an event focused on the impact of the digital age on small and medium enterprises (SMEs), highlighting technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Industry 4.0, Advanced Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), and intelligent process automation. Central to these advancements is effective data management, which enhances validity, accuracy, security, efficiency, and reliability in business operations. The event emphasized how SMEs can leverage data management tools to gain insights, improve decision-making, and increase operational efficiency. It addressed the readiness of SMEs to identify market opportunities, the awareness of management about data management systems, and the training of personnel in using these tools. 

A representative of the China and South-East Asia IP SME Helpdesks provided a brief overview of data and IP regulations when considering internationalising to those markets.
