Description
This training aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to leverage IP rights effectively, drawing inspiration from the IOC's successful revenue generation strategies. Participants will learn to identify valuable IP assets, establish profitable partnerships, and manage IP-related legal and compliance issues, ensuring sustainable revenue growth for their organisations.
The training structure includes an introduction covering the history of the Olympic Games (OG), international treaties, OG symbols, and The Olympic Partners (TOP) programme. Furthermore, it will focus on identifying relevant assets such as OG symbols, mascots, pictograms, and broadcasting rights. Participants will learn about rights acquisition, which will be presented by an IP expert on behalf of the African IP SME Helpdesk, covering trade marks and copyrights, and their importance in global business. The programme will also cover the use of identified and registered IP rights to generate revenue through licensing and National Olympic Committee management. A case study will be presented focusing on the registration and use of IP rights in a specific geographical area. Finally, the training will explore how users can imitate the International Olympic Committee's strategy for their own profit.
