World Intellectual Property Indicators report analyses intellectual property (IP) activity around the globe. Drawing on 2022 filing, registration and in force statistics from national and regional IP offices, it covers patents, utility models, trademarks, industrial designs, microorganisms, plant variety protection and geographical indications (GI). The report shows that there was a record number of patent applications filed worldwide in 2022.
Recently published Report finds that Latin America and the Caribbean countries experienced 7.5% growth in number of patent grants and 4.5% increase in trademark registrations. According to the findings, Brazil (+13.6%) and Mexico (+9.0%) were among the top 20 countries for industrial design registrations. Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay secured positions among the top 20 countries for plant variety titles issued.
