WIPO Director General Meets Minister of External Affairs of India

India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, held a meeting with Daren Tang, the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). During the meeting, they emphasized the importance of improving access to and the benefits of intellectual property (IP) for countries in the Global South. Jaishankar also underscored India's achievements in space technology and the significance of traditional knowledge.

India is a part of several WIPO Treaties including IPO Convention (1975), Paris Convention (1998) and Vienna Agreement (2019). In addition, India is a party to multiple WIPO treaties and was the first country to ratify the Marrakesh Treaty.

The meeting also included discussions on the advantages of strengthening the relationship between India and WIPO.
