Updates on the plant variety registration process in Paraguay

Paraguay's National Plant and Seed Quality and Health Service (SENAVE) announced significant updates to the registration process for the National Register of Protected Cultivars (RNCP) and the National Register of Commercial Cultivars (RNCC). As of January, the following changes have been implemented:

  • New legal document specifications are required for the registration process in both national plant variety registers.
  • Mandatory submission of signature certificates in response to notifications, together with an update of the control of changes in the RNCP.
  • The power of attorney document must be apostilled, valid and registered with the General Directorate of Public Registers, Power of Attorney Section.
  • Applicants are responsible for keeping this document up to date, as it must remain valid throughout the period of protection. Unregistered or expired powers of attorney will not be accepted for annuity payments or other purposes related to plant variety registration in Paraguay.
