Strengthening the fight against IP crime: Outcome of the 2021 EUIPO Observatory plenary

On 29 and 30 September 2021, the European Observatory, which is hosted by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), gathered for the annual plenary meeting. Approximately 180 stakeholders both in Alicante and online participated to discuss recent challenges and achievements.

Main topics centred around IP crime and the ongoing global impact of IPR infringement. The plenary participants further discussed European law enforcement priorities to fight against organised crime and how the Observatory can continue to contribute and support the operational initiatives as well as how to strengthen the global approach to IPR enforcement. Initiatives related to awareness and education were also discussed including the need to develop different approaches and involve new partners.

As part of the plenary, the Observatory's work programme for 2022 was consolidated.
