
A Pune court has granted interim relief to Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) in a trademark dispute against Kirloskar Proprietary Limited (KPL), restraining KPL from using the "Kirloskar" trademark. The court sided with KBL's argument that the trademark was originally owned by them and transferred to KPL under a family arrangement that KPL violated by attempting to terminate the user agreements. The court emphasized that the agreements were tied to a broader family settlement and couldn't be arbitrarily terminated, and that doing so would invalidate the assignment agreements.
