The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has recently amended telco permits, binding the acquisition of network equipment only from ‘trusted sources’ from June 15.
Ending the impasse around the government guidelines over the imports of telecom equipment from certain operators, the National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC) has finalized the criteria for identifying trusted sources and products. Among other criteria, IPR infringing products will be under scrutiny, not making the cut into such a list.
The national cyber security agency has also communicated the process to provide information in a recently held meeting that was attended by all telcos and foreign operators - except China's Huawei and ZTE.
