New adhesion to the Latin America Network of IP and gender: INPI Brazil

INPI Brazil has just announced its adherence to the Latin America Network of IP and gender.

This network facilitates the exchange of good practices, stats, and experiences between the Offices to close the gender gap and empower women in the region concerning innovation and entrepreneurship.

During its last meeting, it was discussed collaborative actions to incorporate the issue of gender equity in the management and activities of IP Institutes in Latin America, with a view to reducing inequality. According to WIPO data for 2021, only 17% of patent applicants through the PCT global system are women.

So far, INPI (Argentina), INPI (Brazil), INAPI (Chile), SIC (Colombia), SENADI (Ecuador), INDECOPI (Peru), ONAPI (Dominican Republic), DNPI (Uruguay), RNP (Costa Rica), SIC (Colombia), IMPI (Mexico), WIPO (as an honorary member), and now INPI Brazil, are all members
