INAPI Chile and AL-INVEST Verde join forces to boost intellectual property rights and innovation

Chile's National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) is collaborating with the European Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) project AL-INVEST Verde to promote the use of intellectual property for economic and technological growth. This collaboration includes a study updated on the economic impact of IPR-intensive sectors, focusing on green patents, to provide essential insights into the role of industrial property in sustainable development. It also presents initiatives such as the implementation of projects at the intersection of research, development, and the wine industry, using IPR to foster sustainable innovation.

INAPI Chile makes trade mark titles free to download

INAPI has implemented free downloading of trade mark registration titles as part of the State's digital transformation measures. From September 2023, titles for granted trademarks are issued free of charge and can be downloaded from the digital file after receipt of the notification of concession. However, these titles only provide information on the grant of the trade mark and do not certify its validity or current ownership. For certificates with validity, registration, and trade mark annotations, the usual INAPI channels are still available, with prior payment required.

Chile recognises the designation of origin of Gorgonzola as Italian

In a ceremony held at the Embassy of Italy in Chile in September, INAPI's National Director presented the official registration recognizing the unique features of Gorgonzola cheese to the Consorzio per la tutela del Formaggio Gorgonzola group. Following this, INAPI clarified that only blue cheese from Lombardy and Piedmont in Italy can be sold as Gorgonzola in Chile.
