Just Released: Stories of European SMEs Thriving in Latin America

The Latin America IP SME Helpdesk team has just published a series of case studies highlighting the experiences of European small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as they expand their businesses into Latin American countries.

HEARTZ Tools
Portuguese SME in the health sector, was granted a patent in Portugal in 2018 for a patient monitoring system. This system features a variety of sensors attached to the patient, which are connected to a mobile device. lthough they planned to extend protection to other European countries and Mexico in the future, HEARTZ Tools missed the opportunity to file for protection in key markets like France, Germany, and Mexico within the 12-month Right of Priority timeframe.

Giancarlo, an Italian entrepreneur and owner of ScifiHaus, is a fan of Sci-Fi video games. He has created a space-themed hotel where guests can stay in rooms inspired by iconic sci-fi scenarios. With existing hotels in Italy and Spain, Giancarlo now plans to expand his Sci-Fi inspired hotel business into Latin America, beginning with Panama.
