Join us on our Virtual Latin America IPR SME Helpdesk roadshow!

Hello everyone! This is Denise writing, from our virtual home office.

What a year 2020 has been so far!

Like for everyone, for many of our readers COVID-19 has had an incredible impact on our daily lives – both professionally and personally. The Latin America IP SME Helpdesk has been no exception. In our previous blog post on matchmaking and training, we have already touched upon the ways we have had to adapt our way of engaging with you. The transition from the physical to the digital has been an intense -but also insightful- experience for us. As one of the representatives of the team that travels to trade fairs and events across Europe to support European SMEs, the sudden switch to a purely virtual environment was comparable to a culture shock!

And yet, after six months of lockdowns, virtual meet-ups and digital matchmaking sessions, the online sphere has become almost second nature not only to me, but also to every person I have met over the last few virtual events. It is great that the current technology enables us to continue working to grow the international footprint of businesses and seize an interconnected global market in the digital world.

Now, with all signs pointing towards COVID-19 staying a little longer, we, at the Latin America IP SME Helpdesk, have of course worked hard to bring you the best free content on intellectual property rights in Latin America – even in the comfort of your home office! So let us have a quick look at some of our most recent activities and what we have in store for you!

Return of the Helpdesk

After a calm summer, our team plunged into virtual matchmaking events, connecting with dozens of European SMEs eager to seize the international and the Latin American market. Online events such as Start-ups going internationalRiga Food, and the Innovation in Environment, Energy and Circular Economy showed us just how important it is right now to support European businesses. With the renewed energy after the summer break, we were just as excited to help entrepreneurs and start-ups navigate the legal jungle of Latin American intellectual property rights before they jump into the fray.

October and beyond – virtual tour ahead!

With the world of matchmaking committed to virtual opportunities, the Latin America IP SME Helpdesk already has its hands full with the preparations to meet and greet companies from all over Europe digitally! From an exciting joint webinar with the China and South East Asian IP SME Helpdesks on the possibilities of intellectual property in fashion, textiles and design at Torino Fashion Match to the first ever virtual edition of the MEDICA Brokerage Event, our team will be there to support you and answer your questions about IPR in Latin America.

We will also have a virtual pit stop in Alava, Spain as we explore how the right intellectual property rights strategy is a gateway to safe internationalisation. Make sure to tune in for this webinar in Spanish on September 24th , 2020, at 10.00AM CEST!

Additionally, we are excited to introduce a new series of events and content with our new initiative, the Collaborators Program. By partnering with clusters, chambers of commerce, and other business support organisations across Europe, we will bring you webinars, fact sheets and more resources that focus on your big questions about intellectual property rights in Latin America. Not only are we proud to count many different organisations among our collaborators, but we are also looking forward to partner with even more of them. We are truly excited to tell you more about the next event we have in stock, so be sure to stay in touch with us for the future!
