India´s leading patent trends: Green technologies

One of India´s focus over the last years has been to promote the use of green, renewable energies across the entire value chain. The government´s efforts via multiple incentives to achieve a fully sustainable and circular economy was reflected in the last patent trends published by the countrie´s Intellectual property Centre.

Since 2016, over half of the patents granted in India were related to green technologies. In sheer numbers, 61.186 patents were granted in this field, and over 90% of these technologies addressed waste management and alternative energy production methods.

A promissing Horizon arises for India, with the prospect of a clean, technology driven economy.
