The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated India’s e-commerce growth, largely in online models, and specifically with various delivery options seen throughout the past year.
The sudden boom in home-delivered goods and services triggered an increasing number of counterfeit products in this market.
Major concerns were raised regarding, in particular, products that might be harmful to the consumer´s health and safety, such as counterfeit masks and sanitary material.
Protection measures by the Indian courts have come in handy to ensure public health and safety by providing immediate relief on matters concerning these essentials, also considering possible actions to be adopted by intermediaries, in order to avoid counterfeits entering the digital market at all.
