G20 Published: New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration

The Group of Twenty (G20) is the premier forum for international economic cooperation. It plays an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues. India is one of the 19 member countries and the current presidency of the Group.

G20 has recently published a declaration under the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ mainly focusing on strong and sustainable growth, accelerating progress on sustainable development goals, a green development pact, and reinvigorating multilateralism.

Technological Transformation and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) was one of the main titles of the published declaration. It is stated in that safe, secure, trusted, accountable and inclusive digital public infrastructure, respectful of human rights, personal data, privacy and intellectual property rights (IPRs) can foster resilience, and enable service delivery and innovation. To this end the following improvements will be welcomed:

  • The G20 Framework for Systems of Digital Public Infrastructure, a voluntary and suggested framework for the development, deployment and governance of DPI.
  • India’s plan to build and maintain a Global Digital Public Infrastructure Repository (GDPIR), a virtual repository of DPI, voluntarily shared by G20 members and beyond.
  • Indian Presidency’s proposal of the One Future Alliance (OFA), a voluntary initiative aimed to build capacity, and provide technical assistance and adequate funding support for implementing DPI in Low-and Middle-income Countries.
