Foreign filings remain stable in Latin America despite the fall in registration rates

Focusing on the numbers from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela, WTR (using Fovea IP's data platform) has assessed that despite the drop in IP filings in the region of Latin America, the amount of registrations coming from foreign countries remains robust.

The two compared periods are 1 Sept-Dec 2021, and 1 Jan-30 Apr 2022.

The biggest general fall in total registrations between both periods comes from Brazil (-5%). Colombia (-4%), and Argentina (-3%). In contrast, Venezuela has doubled its number of applications (+58%), and Mexico has increased it by 15%.
