Following the Strategic Partnership Review Meeting on 08 May in New Delhi, the European Union (EU) and India have held their first ministerial meeting of the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) on 16 May in Brussels.
The TTC is an important forum to strengthen the strategic collaboration between the two parties in trade and technology. The EU and India have a shared an objective in ensuring security, prosperity, and sustainable development based on common values, which has been strengthened by geostrategic challenges.
The TTC was established by the EU and India as a platform for coordination to address important trade, security, and trusted technology issues. The meeting focused on three working groups:
- Strategic technologies, digital governance and digital connectivity
- Green and clean energy technologies
- Trade, investment and resilient value chains
Ministerial meetings of the TTC are expected to take place at least once a year, with the venue alternating between the EU and India. Meanwhile, working groups will meet regularly to carry out those mentioned political agendas. The next ministerial meeting is planned for early 2024 in India.
Further details can be found in the EU-India TTC Joint statement released after the meeting.
