EU Industry Days: the resilience of EU SMEs in the green and digital sectors

Robert Pocklington

IP expert, Latin America IP SME Helpdesk

The EU Industry Days is an annual event highlighting industrial frontrunners, ongoing industrial policy discussions and improving the knowledge base of European industry. It is the main platform to discuss industry challenges and co-develop opportunities and policy responses in an inclusive dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders.

This year, it took place virtually between 8th and 11th February.

Topics of this year

Virtual workshops, fairs, seminars, open door sessions and business presentations demonstrated how European industrial ecosystems are approaching the topics of:

  • The green and digital transition
  • Resilience
  • Youth in industry

Why is it an important event for the Latin America IP SME Helpdesk?

It informs industrial policies at European, national, regional and local levels and ensures coherence for European industry to deliver jobs, growth and innovation in Europe.

Thanks to the platform provided by the EU Commission, the IP representatives of the Latin America IP SME Helpdesks were able to meet virtually with EU SMEs, Business Support organisations, Clusters and Chambers of Commercer.

On the one hand, the EU SMEs are looking forward to knowing how to protect their ideas, names and inventions in the region of latin America. Even more during events like this one, where EU SMEs ask for our free, fast and multilingual advise on IP protection in the following sectors: circular economy, collaborative platforms, green technology, website protection, IPR protection online, and many other sectors.

EU Industry Week 2022

The EU Industry Week is a wider framing of the EU Industry Days, bringing the discussion to the local communities.

This year, the International IP SME Helpdesk (Africa, China, India, Latin America, and South-East Asia), and the European IP Helpdesk, all of them delivered a webinar on “Intellectual Property for the Green tech and Digital Economy sectors”.

The Latin America IP SME Helpdesk, provided EU SMEs with a seminar on “Why is IP relevant in the internationalisation process?”, thanks to our IP Expert César E. Fernández.
