EPO and INAPI Chile will start soon their pilot PPH program

The Chilean National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) and the European Patent Office (EPO), have announced the start of a pilot program for the accelerated obtaining of patents, known as Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH). The PPH pilot program was expected to be launched this 1 January 2024. 

A PPH cooperation facilitates the collaboration of IP offices and enables a multilateral work-sharing agreement. Thanks to the PPH, a faster response would be obtained from said entities, reducing the duplication of efforts, time, and processing costs to study the same patent application.

Users of the the EPO's fast-track patent examination are already benefiting too in other Latin American countries, such as Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
