Enrol Now for the European Patent Administration Certification (EPAC)

The European Patent Office recently opened the enrolment for the European Patent Administration Certification (EPAC) exam, which will take place on 12 December 2022. The exam is open to paralegals, patent administrators, and formalities officers that wish to obtain an official certification proving the capacity to manage the patent filing process, some aspects related to patent prosecution, and the grant and renewal procedures for European and international patents before the EPO.

This new certification scheme fills a gap for a considerable share of the task force in the field. Renewal and management procedures for patents have a very intense administrative workload. Often, these aspects are covered by professionals in the field who do not have a solid academic credential for such activity.

Now, the EPO offers the opportunity to formalise and improve these skills through the EPAC certification scheme. Successful candidates can also enrol for a mock exam that will take place on 21 November, a highly recommended exercise to prepare for the final exam.
