Ecuador ratifies the "Protocol of Amendments to the Agreement on Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights TRIPS"

The Protocol of Amendments to the Agreement on Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights TRIPS, related to the production and access to drugs has been ratified in Ecuador.

This ratification will allow Ecuador the flexibility of the rights of intellectual property for reasons of public health and thus promote access to medicines and pharmaceuticals

Thanks to this international instrument, Ecuador will import medicines or pharmaceutical products patented through the compulsory licensing system that are granted by other WTO member states that are in better conditions for manufacturing.
