DINAPI implements the use of EUIPO's TMclass system

As of 8th May 2023, the Paraguayan National Directorate of Intellectual Property (DINAPI) has implemented the TMclass system, an administrative tool designed by the EUIPO to help the user know where a product or service (term) can be classified before registering a trademark. DINAPI will use and accept the terms from the alphabetical list of Nice in TMclass (in Spanish).

What is TMclass? TMclass helps you to search for and classify Goods and Services (terms) needed to apply for trade mark protection. You can also translate a list of Goods and Services and verify if those terms appear in the classification databases of the Participating Offices.

The new incorporation of DINAPI in TMclass brings the total number of participating national and regional IP offices, including ARIPO, OAPI, WIPO, and the EUIPO, to 95.

With this inclusion, its now 16 IP offices in Latin America that have implemented TMclass. Just Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Venezuela are not yet in TMclass.
