The Bombay High Court gave a decision in early March of this year, confirming that right holders can bring actions for copyright infringement under India's Copyright Act even if the copyright has not been registered.
This ruling goes against previous decisions in which it was stated that the registration of a copyright-protected work with the Copyright Registrar was mandatory before infringements action could be brought to court.
