Commission Published a New Study on "Promoting Cross-Border Activities for Social Economy"

eu flag

The European Commission has released a study on "Promoting Cross-Border Activities for Social Economy, including Social Enterprises." This study aims to encourage and facilitate cross-border initiatives among social economy entities and social enterprises. It is accompanied by a Guide to assist these organisations in engaging in cross-border activities, as well as a collection of 52 real-world cases demonstrating social economy entities successfully operating across national borders.

This study focuses on a relatively less explored area, which is the internationalisation of social economy actors, particularly social economy entities. While there have been numerous studies on the internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and its impact on the economy, the international activities of social economy organizations have received less attention.

The study's objective is to analyse, evaluate, and disseminate the successful cross-border initiatives and actions of social economy organisations. It also examines relevant European and national policies aimed at promoting effective approaches that can facilitate the integration of social economy actors into the Internal Market.

Full study can be found here.
