Changes in the Colombian Administrative and Contentious-Administrative Procedural Code

The Congress of Colombia has passed the Law 2080 (25 January 2021), reforming the Colombian Administrative and Contentious-Administrative Procedural Code, involving industrial property.

What are the main changes affecting Colombian industrial property?

As well pointed out by the World Trademark Review, future industrial property issues will now be heard in first instance by the Administrative Tribunal of Cundinamarca, and the appeal before the Concil of State. This will affect complaints filed from 25 January 2022. Further changes involve the introduction of anticipated sentences before the first hearing and its implications.
