Canada is joining the expanding group of non-EU countries that have associated with the EU's research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe, and will collaborate on large-scale projects addressing our most significant challenges.
On 3 July, Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and François-Philippe Champagne, Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, signed the agreement that allows Canadian researchers and organisations to participate in the Horizon Europe programme on equal terms with their EU counterparts.
Canada is now part of Horizon Europe's Pillar II, supporting collaborative research projects across various fields. Canadian entities can participate in and lead research consortia with leading global research organisations to address global challenges jointly. They will receive direct funding from the programme, and Canada will also contribute to its budget.
