EUCCC IPR Working Group and China IP SME Helpdesk jointly organize a hybrid meeting on IP and Technology Transfer in China. It is a closed meeting for European Chamber members only and will be on Wednesday 8th November.

Over the past five years, China has made changes in many IP related laws and regulations to facilitate and safeguard legitimate technology transfers. Furthermore, the Foreign Investment Law clearly bans forced technology transfers. Nevertheless, European companies, remain concerned about how to structure technology transfers when dealing with Chinese partners.

This joint meeting between European Chamber and China IP SME Helpdesk, titled IP and Technology Transfer in China – Legal and Practical Considerations for European Business, will delve into the legal and practical considerations of technology transfer for European business operating in, or wish to operate in China.

During this meeting, the China IP SME Helpdesk IP Business Advisor, Ms Lisa Lu, will first provide an overview of the newest technology transfer conditions as well as discuss the role of various contracts in protecting IP. After the first presentation, Mr Mark Young, Director in Control Risks’ Compliance, Forensics, and Intelligence practices, will discuss risks to IP associated with technology transfer to China, and share case studies. This meeting will be moderated by Mr Yu-An Chang, Vice chair of the European Chamber IPR Working Group.
