Could you briefly describe your core expertise and field of activity within the Enterprise Europe Network? What are key services you offer to your clients?
On 1 Janaury 2008, I became a member of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) within the BISNet Transylvania consortium, and on 1 November 2013, I became a member of European IP Helpdesk Ambassador Scheme. In all these years I have carried out activities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) such as finding international partners, technological / innovation / intellectual property (IP) audit, IP and technology transfer (TT) training, advisory services for IPR filing.
What does it mean to you to be a European IP Helpdesk Ambassador? And what do you like most about it?
Belonging to a team of professionals in the field of IP is the most important factor that helps and motivates me to offer quality advisory services and training as an IP ambassador. My integration into three European networks (European Enterprise Network, European IP Helpdesk and Patent information centres – PATLIB Network) gives me a major advantage in finding collaborators and, why not, friends 😊.
How would you describe the internal interaction and cooperation with your Enterprise Europe Network colleagues?
The presentation of the European IP Helpdesk at one of the national meetings confirmed me that expertise in IP is extremely necessary at the consortium level, this field being less known by EEN consultants, and because of this, they often prefer to provide general information and not go into IP details in the discussion with the SME. I hope that in the future we will collaborate more and better.
In your opinion, what are current “hot” topics and questions related to Intellectual Property (IP) in your region/country?
Romania is a country where there is no formal education in the field of IP, that's why I can say that any topic is "hot", but the most important thing is to be able to adapt the language to the audience and offer examples, case studies, infographics and guidance in order to facilitate the transfer of information. A proactive and not reactive approach is needed in this knowledge transfer process.
What are major challenges SMEs face with regard to IP? And what kind of support is needed, you think?
Any SME in Romania needs support in identifying the development opportunities offered by the field of IP, and building a strategy in IP is a real challenge. The most appropriate form of support for SMEs is 'coaching' both for the IP audit and for IP strategy or IP protection. The possibility of offering online coaching greatly increases the effectiveness and efficiency of meetings of this type.
