Mats Udén is the Scandinavian Local Expert of the ASEAN IPR SME Helpdesk. He is a lawyer specialized in intellectual property (IP) with more than 20 years of international practical IP experience. He has worked in the private practice, at the Boards of Appeal at the OHIM (the European Trademark and Design Office) and as well as in the industry as the Vice President Global IP at an international group of companies. Today Mats is running an IP consultancy firm, Udén IP Strategy & Management AB. The firm is specialized in providing IP strategy and management services to both SME’s as well as global companies. Mats has long experience in developing IP strategies and managing IP for companies including operational work in China and South-East Asia. Mats has also headed the development of a global anti-counterfeit function and program. His experience covers both non-contentious and contentious IP work as well as commercialization of IP. Mats has most been confronted with the vast majority of the IP opportunities as well as the challenges a company can face operating in the Asian region and internationally. Mats has been a member of the industry team representing Business Europe in the dialogue, between the Industry and the IP offices in China, Europe, Japan, South Korea and US, on the development of the patent systems and processes within the existing legal framework.
