Yuwadee Thean-ngarm is the director of Tilleke & Gibbins' office in Myanmar. After having served for a decade as an attorney-at-law and litigator in the intellectual property group within the firm’s Bangkok office, Yuwadee moved to oversee the firm’s Yangon office in 2013. She is recognized as a leading lawyer in Myanmar by Asialaw Leading Lawyers and IFLR 1000. In 2019, she was named one of the brightest young lawyers in Asia by Asian Legal Business’ annual “Top 40 Under 40” list.
Yuwadee advises clients on the full range of trademark, patent, and copyright issues under the existing legal framework in Myanmar. She advocates on her clients’ behalf in planning strategies for intellectual property protection in Myanmar, recording declarations of ownership before the Office of Registration of Deeds, and exploring other opportunities to help clients grow their business and protect their intellectual assets in this emerging jurisdiction. Due to her position as a leading lawyer in the jurisdiction and the Secretary General of the Thai Business Association of Myanmar, Yuwadee has played an instrumental role in advising on the new suite of intellectual property laws that were enacted in Myanmar in 2019.
Yuwadee is a registered patent agent and notarial services attorney in Thailand with significant experience appearing before the Trademark Registrar, the Board of Trademarks, and the Intellectual Property and International Trade Court. She is also a member of the Thai Bar Association and Lawyers Council of Thailand. She has completed the Development of Specialist in Trademark Registration course at the Thai Department of Intellectual Property, the Specialist Bar in IP #2 at the IP&IT Court, and the JPO/IPR Training Course for Advanced IP Protection Practitioners.
