Description
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups are key drivers of innovation, yet they often face resource constraints when managing intellectual property (IP). In response to this issue, the Africa-Europe Innovation Platform (AEIP) and the Africa IP SME Helpdesk have recently launched a dedicated webinar series on IP, designed to support SMEs and start-ups.
As key drivers of innovation and economic growth, SMEs frequently encounter barriers in protecting and managing their intellectual property assets. This webinar series provides practical guidance and tailored support, to help businesses safeguard their innovations, overcome IP-related challenges and leverage IP as a strategic asset for growth and competitiveness.
The webinars will equip SMEs and start-ups with the knowledge and tools they need to develop structured IP strategies, expand into new markets, attract investment and secure a competitive advantage in both local and international markets.
Following the first successful webinar on navigating international IP and market entry requirements, held on 22 April 2026, the AEIP and the Africa IP SME Helpdesk are pleased to continue the series with a new session titled ‘Developing an IP strategy and management system for business growth’. This will take place on 9 June 2026 from 10:30 to 11:30 (CEST).
Webinar description
This webinar will provide participants with practical insights into how businesses can develop and implement effective intellectual property (IP) strategies aligned with their commercial objectives.
The session will cover the key components of an IP management system, including identifying and protecting valuable intangible assets, integrating IP into business planning, managing risks and opportunities, and using IP strategically to support innovation, partnerships and market expansion. Participants will also gain a clearer understanding of how a structured IP approach can strengthen competitiveness, improve investment readiness and contribute to sustainable business growth.
