Promoting Creativity and Innovation: The Amended IP Law of Viet Nam (IP Key SEA)

Following the enactment of the Amended IP Law of Viet Nam, which took effect on 1 January 2023, with provisions on sound marks protection from 14 January 2023, and the protection of test data for agricultural chemicals effective on 14 January 2024, the activity organises events to promote awareness and ensure that EU and SEA businesses operating in Viet Nam are aware of the changes under the new law. 

On 6-7 June 2024, the IP Key SEA will be in Ho Chi Minh City to co-organise a two-day seminar with the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam. The seminar will discuss how businesses can tap into the potential of IP for their competitiveness and growth. 

Both EU and Vietnamese experts will discuss topics including patents and industrial designs, trademarks, copyright and geographical indications, particularly addressing the new changes in the Vietnamese IP law and the GI reform in the EU. There will also be a dedicated segment on issues related to IP right enforcement in Viet Nam. Plus, an exhibit of popular Vietnamese and EU GIs.
