Opportunities and Challenges for Serbian SMEs in the Chinese F&B Market

In China’s food & beverage market, Serbian SMEs face unique challenges but also substantial opportunities. Navigating complex regulations concerning food safety, import laws, and protecting intellectual property remains a significant challenge. Additionally, adapting to local tastes is crucial. However, the opportunities for growth are significant, driven by a numerically relevant middle class with a growing curiosity for Western food products. By focusing on these areas, Serbian SMEs can leverage their strengths to penetrate and expand in the competitive Chinese market, establishing a foothold in niches that appreciate European quality products.

In order to support Serbian enterprises interested in accessing the Chinese market, the EU SME Centre is organising, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the China IP SME Helpdesk, a conference aimed at shedding light on the Chinese F&B market and its specificities.
