
In 2025, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO AMC) administered 1,461 disputes related to intellectual property (IP), innovation, and technology, representing a 70% increase compared to 2024. Disputes handled under the WIPO Co-Administration Program with IP and Copyright Offices which provides e-filing, case management and online hearing tools, as well as staff training and guidance rose by 87% year-on-year. Cases conducted under the WIPO Mediation and Arbitration Rules grew by 42%. Collectively, these figures reflect a marked rise in the use of WIPO’s dispute resolution services.
Copyright and digital content disputes accounted for the majority of cases (71%), followed by trademarks (23%), while patents and other commercial matters comprised the remaining share. The parties involved included more than 1,500 SMEs, start-ups, creators, and innovators.
