The European Patent Office (EPO) celebrated the winners of the 2025 Young Inventors Prize in a ceremony broadcast live from Reykjavík, Iceland.
This prestigious award honours young innovators—aged 30 and under—whose inventions significantly contribute to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The event brought together a global audience and was co-hosted by German youth television presenter Benedikt Weber and Capucine Auffret, a 13-year-old student from France who lent her voice to represent the next generation. Together, they guided viewers through an uplifting celebration of forward-looking ideas and technologies with the power to shape a better future.
A panel of independent judges chose ten inventors or teams under the age of 30, known as the “Tomorrow Shapers,” from around 450 applicants worldwide. From this select group, three received special awards recognizing their exceptional contributions: World Builders, Community Healers, and Nature Guardians. Furthermore, the People’s Choice award was given based on votes from the public, highlighting the invention that gained the most popular support.
