Vietnam: The IP of Vietnam tightens regulations on legal rep authorized to sign documents

On 23 November 2020, the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (VNIPO) issued Notice No. 13822/TB-SHTT (“Notice 13822”) which establishes a stricter regime for required documents for the registration of industrial property (“IP”) rights and associated procedures.  Notice 13822 also provides specific regulations on applicants’ representatives and relevant requirements with respect to their titles and signatures. Notice 13822 affects both Vietnamese and foreign applicants/owners who pursue registration and protection of their IP rights in Vietnam.
