Uruguay’s DNPI to Join WIPO’s Digital Access Service as an Official Access and Depositing Office

The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) of Uruguay announced that the National Directorate of Industrial Property (DNPI) began operating as an Access and Depositing Office for the WIPO Digital Access Service (DAS) starting on September 15, 2025.

The Digital Access Service (DAS) is an electronic system managed by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) that allows for the secure exchange of priority documents (and similar materials) between participating intellectual property offices. This system complies with the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property and enables the process to be carried out electronically.

The service applies to documents related to patents, utility models, industrial designs, and trademarks, eliminating the need to submit physical copies and improving the efficiency and reliability of international intellectual property procedures.
