Special 301 Report is out now: Mexico has been moved to the Priority Watch List.

According to the report, Brazil lacks effective enforcement against the widespread importation and sale of counterfeit goods, has not joined international treaties that update copyright protection for the digital environment, and takes significantly longer than most countries to grant patents.

Mexico was moved to the Priority Watch List due to unresolved IP issues related to the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Countries on the Priority Watch List are Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela. (like China, India, and Russia).

Countries on the Watch List and merit bilateral attention to address underlying IP problems: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru. (like Bulgaria, Egypt, Thailand and Türkiye)

Honduras continues to have one of the highest rates of signal piracy in LAC.
