Piyush Goyal: Indian Pharma Firms Not Copying Products, India Respect IP Rights

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday firmly dismissed allegations that Indian pharmaceutical companies copy products developed by Swiss firms, calling it a long-standing myth. He emphasized that India respects intellectual property rights and does not engage in stealing or misappropriating technology from other countries.

Minister Piyush Goyal stated that Swiss pharmaceutical companies have not presented a single instance where Indian firms have unlawfully copied their trademarks, patents, or copyrighted technologies.

“I was shown none, not one. This is a myth which has been propagated for years,” Goyal told reporters, responding to questions about alleged complaints from Swiss pharma companies on the matter.
